Assignment 3 - Waffling

The main purpose of this assignment was to create a waffling script that would waffle solids. Throughout this process, I learnt how to use nodes like 'list item' to help me indicate the middle point of intersections so that I could create slits into the surfaces. I also learnt how to use mathematical nodes that would help me calculate the length of my object so that it would automatically increase the number of panels to waffle, as soon as it detects a larger solid, but still keep the spacing between the panels about 10mm. Additionally, this script should be capable of waffling nearly any solid that it's given. This assignment has been extremely useful in understanding the concept of waffling and the steps one must take in order to achieve this type of technical modelling.

Assignment 2 - 3D Printing

For this assignment, I played around using perpendicular frames so that I could create something that was similar to the Mobius strip. Since the design has a cross section of a pentagon, therefore I gave it 5 attractor points so that each surface on the design could have variations in the size of the hexagon shaped indents.

Assignment 1 – Modelling | Lasercutting

For this first very first assignment, I illustrated the letter M using Grasshopper 3D. At first, I attempted to recreate a simple box geometry of the letter, but due to construction methods like using 3mm plywood, it was hard to realize the model in a form which had resolved perfect edges (edges meeting at degrees of more or less than 90 degrees were an issue).

Therefore, I decided to give sectioning a go. The structure of the letter 'M" which I've designed in grasshopper consists of 4 frames that overlap one another, and include this voroni like structure inside, which was created by adding a randomized set of values to determine divison points on the lines, which were connected as if they were lofted. Additionally, I did something that is mostly commonly known as 'piping' except I did it with sweep1 in order to create a rectilinear surface for the sweep.
